(Mostly) Current: Bedroom

With the exception of the wonderful LED television that Tim got me for Christmas, these are pretty much the way our bedroom looks right now.
Sadly, this will be changing soon since we gain our lease for our new apartment on Thursday [insert Wendy's sadface here], but I'm dreaming of paint colors for our new bedroom!  So I have mixed emotions about the move.
Enough about that, though...

Oh, I also forgot that we have a very sweet quote by Owl City in the form of a poster now hanging above our bed now.  So I guess I owe myself a COUPLE of update photos, at least...

We only got those curtains halfway through living here, but I think they added something to the room that it didn't have before!
Wondering why they're hung so high?  Neat tip:  If you have a low ceiling (or very little visual appeal) in any room, you can hang your curtains closer to the ceiling to add height to the room!  It makes a HUGE difference.

Oh, and those prints to the right of the window are from a cute little autobio blog/webcomic you can check out here.  If you have the time, you should check it out!  It's pretty swell.

This is my side of the bed, complete with a cute little rabbit jewelry holder I got from Anthropologie, all my little techno-gadgets charging, and some side-table paper bouquets I made myself.  I'm pretty proud of them.

The finale:  Tim's side table!  Those are his old glasses, right there.  Interesting fact (to me, at least... not all of us have the same sense of humor as I, I suppose):  he's had those glasses since he was in middle school!  He just kept changing the lenses out.
Oh, and that book jacket without a book inside it for it to house is really only removed so it won't get ruined.

Anyone else take their book jackets off of large books while they're reading out of the paralyzing fear that they might ruin them if they leave them on?  Or recently make paper bouquets out of boredom?

Apartment Numero Uno--Anything Else I Have A Picture Of...

A good majority of the next few pictures I'm posting are from my bedroom (that was a sunroom) when it snowed.  They aren't great pictures, and I mostly took them because, at the time, I thought it was hilarious that the cats were all clumping around my window to see whatever-it-was that was falling on the outside world.

Admittedly, it still makes me giggle a little.

But I digress!  I have a few photos of my living situation outside of the living room from the first apartment, and while they aren't great, I'll post what I can.

---
To give you an idea of just how absolutely terrible these next few photos are going to be... These are some of the best pictures I have of Tim's room (which my room was adjacent to, connected by two little French doors).  The cat was our roommate's cat, and his name was Ragnarok.  Tim and I just referred to him as "Rags," which we thought was more fitting, don't you think?
The photo above shows you Tim's TV, his PS1, a roommate's PS2, his Robotech box set (heck yes), and the door to the bathroom.  Sexy, right?

This is a pretty excellent view of Tim's tiny little desk, and a chair that was a roommate's that we STILL somehow have.  Our cats adore it.

This is one side of our tiny kitchen, complete with a birthday cake for Darrell...

And the other side with the sink and the fridge, complete with Tim.  I had forgotten how long his hair used to be!  Awwwwwwwww.

Instead of a TV, I had a monitor hooked up to an XBox for entertainment in my room.  It had to stay right up against my bed because of the sheer size of my bedroom.  It was... cozy.  Haha.
My cat, Mister Kittens, was watching Doctor Who with me.  Silly cat.

---

I have to admit:  I was going to upload a bunch of photos I took from the snow day to show my bedroom off, but then I came across this video.  If you're willing to sit through 4 minutes of cat antics and my awful voice, or even if you only sit through a minute of it, this is a pretty good representation of my room, along with a glimpse of Tim's room.  Bonus:  My room wasn't cleaned! Woohoo!

So if you were wondering about the old old apartment, there it is.  Next up: a handful of photos from our last apartment.  How... exciting?

Every Day is a Good Day to Love

Every time I visit the grocery store over the past couple of weeks, it has been [aggressively] whispering in my ear, reminding me of two things that are fast approaching:  the Superbowl, and Valentine's Day.
Honestly, I don't care about either... But the coming of Valentine's Day made me feel like I could share something that I don't normally share with people.
I've always felt that you should share your love with your loved ones every day, not just go all-out one day of the year.  Small things, big things, I just think random acts of love and kindness are the way to a happier life, as well as overall better relationships with your loved ones.

That being said, let me introduce you to my bath crayons!

These little guys are awesome.
Yeah, yeah... I know, I'm an adult... So why don't I act like it?
Let me show you what me and Tim use them for, though.

Sorry for the weird shadows--my bathroom lighting isn't the best when it comes to trying to photograph things in the bathtub.  Who'd have thought?

You can kind of guess which ones I made and which ones Tim made...

And I apologize for the smudging.  Some of these have been up in the shower for months now!  After awhile they start getting kind of drippy, if you like hot showers as much as I do.

Well, there it is.  Every time a new one sprouts up on the tiles, my heart skips a beat.  No lie.
I love that I'm with someone who's as cheesy and weird as I am...

How about you guys?  How do you randomly express your love to your significant others, partners, families, children, etc?  I'd love to hear!

20 Days...

Anthropologie has this wonderful drawing going on for the next few days, and I absolutely adore today's drawing.  So I thought I'd share the link to the drawings.
You have to re-enter on every day that you want to be entered for the sweepstakes--as in, if you want the possibility to win the prize for THAT day, you must enter on the day that you want that prize for.  If you understand me.

If you want to enter, or see what it's all about, go here!

Let me know if you happen to win!  Haha.

No, I was no perk'd or paid to advertise this, I just thought it was really awesome that they're doing this sweepstakes and I thought I'd share the (possible) joy!

The Naked Home

I love the apartment I'm currently in.
I mean... I -LOVE- this apartment.  It's a two-story, one-bedroom townhouse with a loft, and it's gorgeous.

Anyway... I'm moving away from it in March, so the apartment hunt has been ON.  If I didn't already make it clear, I really do love this apartment.
"So why, Wendy, are you moving?  You do LOVE that aparmtent!"
Uhhh...  Simple answer:  It's just too expensive!  It breaks my heart to say so, but it really is.

So before I get to moving out, I want to post my memories of this lovely, lovely home somewhere I'll be able to look back and remember them all in one place... all at once.  Whenever I please.

I'll start with the pictures I have of the unfurnished apartment, before Tim and I were actually moved in.
**I apologize for the poor quality of the photos.. they were taken at night without additional lighting.**

Drumroll, please!

This was the [very bare] kitchen.  With a box of stuff on the countertop.

The view of the dining room and kitchen, as seen from the stairway.

The view of the living room from halfway up the stairs...

Yes, that IS me.  In case you were wondering.
We fell in love with the angles that you see from the living room.  It adds interest, and a certain amount of elegance that you simply do not see in apartments, wouldn't you agree?

This is the same view from a different angle.  You can see the kitchen from there!

This is further up the stairs, going up to the loft area.  As well as Tim, making faces at me.  I doubt anyone actually needs to see this photo, but it makes me giggle... so I deemed it post-worthy.

I apologize for the funny angle of this photo--The doorway was too narrow for me to get a decent picture from inside.  This is the bedroom.

One view of the upstairs bathroom.

From another angle...

Tim... posing in the loft area.

And finally, one of my favorite parts of the entire apartment:  the downstairs half-bath.  It's BEAUTIFUL, right?  I thought so.

So... that was the apartment before we really got moved in.  It showed a lot of potential, and it has grown a lot with us!
I'll try to post some pictures of Hypocrisy as it currently is soon... We'll see.  (Ahhahaha)

Apartment Numero Uno -- The Living Room

These next few posts are vaguely embarrassing, because I only just realized that the only pictures I ever took of my previous two apartments were either taken because I was trying to inspire myself to clean (so they're shots of REALLY MESSY rooms), we (Tim and I) were in the process of moving furniture, or it had snowed, and I was trying desperately to get a good picture of the snow before it all melted away. I live in Texas, dontchaknow?  When it snows, it's a small miracle... and when the snow lasts for over a day, it's like an act of God that you were blessed with this mythical water byproduct that so many people curse and mangle their cars over.  So you'll understand when I tell you how exciting it was.

Without further ado, I present to you... Some really terrible snapshots of my first apartment that aren't actually the best representation I could possibly make of it!  (It was a nice apartment, but I shared it with two guys--and before I moved in it had TWO MORE guys living in it.  Sheesh!)

This was the living room from one side... A mess, because we were rearranging.

This was me and Tim dancing... because we were rearranging the living room.

And if you want a close-up of those possibly perverse and nerdy items adorning our fireplace, here you go.

My nerd is showing: characters above are from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, and the creepy guy who looks like he's looking at her butt is from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

And above is Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist looking as if he's trying to grab this poor girl from Lucky Star.

My microraptor was battling two Pokemon (and obviously winning), while Master Chief of Halo fame pulled at Pikachu's ears... Also involved in this scene was Bumblebee, and an art reference mannequin.

Bumblebee, my Lego Sears Tower, a Storm Trooper on an AT-AT gazing longingly at the Sears Tower, and the cat from FLCL.

After we finally rearranged, we had quesadillas.  YEAH, QUESADILLAS!

The only reason for the above photo being shown is really that it shows where the couch was.  There was a table back there with a computer on it, and the door behind that is where my tiny little closet-sized room was.

----

So anyway, that was the living room to our first apartment.  Mostly.  Basically.
Next up, bedrooms!

This Blog

I've tried multiple times to create blogs, but I always forget that they exist.  However... I've really been wanting to document the things I do and have done with my apartments over the past few years since I left my parents' houses (yes, you read that right--no, my parents are not rich, they're just divorced).

I've taken an interest in DIY and home improvement blogs over the past year and a half or so, and while I don't intend of becoming as popular as many of the blogs I read, I do intend on setting out to do the thing most of them set out to do, and that's really just to document things so that later on down the line, they can go back and see that things have changed a lot (or maybe not at all).  I like that.  I think it's nice to be able to keep tabs on what you've done for yourself and others.

Enough about that, though... Just for my own memory's sake, I'm going to list the things I'd like to do/show on this blog over the next couple of weeks, and hopefully I'll follow up!

•Post current pictures of the current apartment
•Talk about recent DIY endeavors
•Things that inspire me

...I can't really think of anything else that seemed imperative to me right now, but I'm sure it'll occur to me later.  Either way, the list is for myself, so I'm the only one suffering, right?  Hah.

Anyway, wish me luck!
